On May 1, Two Men and a Mom, the MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM morning show team, held their first ever “30 Say Thank You.” They encouraged listeners to call in to pledge a lunch donation to the providers and staff at Duke Health. MIX 101.5 was hoping to receive 30 donations, but through the generosity of their listeners and donations from partner businesses 919-Fix-MyAC and the Carolina Ale House, 160 lunches from the Ale House were donated to pediatric providers in the Duke Children’s pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, and intensive care nursery.
“Food is love, and since March 31st we have been able to accept and coordinate over 16,000 food donations and deliveries across the Duke Health system,” said Shannon Haney, patient and family engagement coordinator for the Duke University Health System and the Duke Health logistics coordinator for food donations during the COVID-19 situation. “All you can do is just say thank you with complete sincerity. Everybody is beyond grateful, and they know food is love, so they feel it.”
MIX 101.5 has been a longtime partner of Duke Children’s through the annual MIX 101.5 Radiothon for Duke Children’s, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the past 25 years, MIX 101.5 has helped raise nearly $19 million for Duke Children’s and continues to support Duke Children’s in myriad other ways throughout each calendar year.
All you can do is just say thank you with complete sincerity.
Everybody is beyond grateful, and they know food is love, so they feel it.
