Walmart and Sam's Club Stay Strong for Duke Children's! 

The 2020 register campaign results for the annual Walmart, Sam's Club, and Neighborhood Market fundraising campaign for Duke Children's are in, and they are wonderful! The nearly 120 stores that fundraise for Duke Children's raised $793,367 for Duke Children's, a 42.8% increase from the 2019 total. Despite the many challenges of 2020, fundraising across the entire country was up by 27.8%. The Duke Children's geographic region was ranked seventh in total dollars raised overall, behind regions such as Arkansas, Denver, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. 

For over 30 years, Walmart, Sam's Club, and Neighborhood Markets have fundraised for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals around the nation. Duke Children's is proud to have over 120 stores fundraising in support of clinical care, pediatric research, and physician education at Duke Children's. This year's register ask fundraiser started on June 22 and ran through the month of July, and took place in stores, online and on the Walmart app. Customers were asked to donate and make round-ups at the register. Stores also hold year-round fundraising events of their own, including bake sales, socially-distanced carnivals, and themed days. The totals announced above only reflect register donations, not donations made at these events. 

Friendly market-to-market and store-to-store competition inspired all the stores in our region to make the ask every day throughout the campaign.Top stores for Duke Children's included:

• Roxboro Walmart, raised $21,741 
• Wake Forest Walmart, raised  $21,336
• Elkin Walmart, raised  $15,995
• Greensboro Sam's Club, raised $17,987, and ranked as the #12 Sam’s Club in the US for register fundraising
• Clemmons Neighborhood Market, raised $8,569, and ranked as the #15 Neighborhood Market in the US for register fundraising

In addition to the above totals, Duke Children's will also receive a share of the $1,699,850 raised online through the Walmart website and app.
